How We Can Build Resilience in Our Life?
The world is changing, and it’s changing fast. Though the change is beautiful, it has its consequences. Every second someone is going through some stress and anxiety. The reasons could be numerous.
It may be losing a job that they had worked so hard, maybe a miscarriage, infertility, a disastrous heartbreak or divorce, maybe a business that has started doesn’t go anywhere and collapsed or maybe the death of a loved one.
We don’t know, but somewhere someone is hitting the rock.
The only difference is that some of us bounce back, and some of us never recover.
Gone are the days where a mom could solve all our problems. Now we have to deal with all the hurricanes and tornadoes on our own.
What if there will be a way to build a certain amount of resiliency in our lives so that we can learn the art on how to deal with such uncertainties in our life?
We will be able to move fast and become stronger and healthier than ever before.
How to Build Resilience?
- Developing self-efficacy: It involves learning to focus our attention on the constructive process. It involves learning to set aside those nagging internal voices of self-doubt. It involves learning to reflect on our past successes and failures as guides for future success.
- Design thinking: One approach to creative problem solving that’s becoming very popular in a lot of different industries is known as design thinking. Design thinking is a process documented by studying the way designers, graphic designers, product designers, engineers, and architects, think about their work. Designers want their products to make people’s lives better, so they need to identify problems to know what to do. For a designer, a problem isn’t a barrier – it’s the start of a solution. In other words, the problem we start with isn’t always the one we need to solve. That’s why we get stuck. This ability to reframe or think differently about problems – often from the perspective of another – is a crucial part of building our resilience tool kit. It means that when we confront a problem, we engage with it to understand it rather than allowing it to block our way forward.
- Don’t be fragile, being fragile means each and everything hurts you and upsets you that will make you an unhappy person. Some people are susceptible to small things.
- Get some perspective: step back, access your situation with objectivity. How bad is this problem? Did I overstate it? And ask yourself what the worst thing that can happen? Maybe the worst isn’t that bad analyze and go ahead.
- Compare the undeserved lousy thing with the unearned good things. You will realize soon how blessed you are. Things may not look right now, but with time, you will realize those things are helping you to become better and more robust, the process of finding that strength is resilience.
- Be the engineer of your fate: We can’t control circumstances, but we can control our reaction towards it. Suppose somehow a cup of coffee slipped from your hand and the cup broke after staining your shirt, it’s up to you how you will react to it. I know many people will spoil the entire day thinking about it and a few will think, thank God for taking the old mug I was about to replace it with a new mug.
- Take an honest inventory of your life: Analyze your life, your contribution to your misery, how many speed bumps you have created of your own? How many tremors have you started with a small conversation? How you have created a tornado out of a small wind of the argument. Take in charge of your life, blaming others for any action is as easy as throwing a ball but if you start peeping inside your own life, you will come to know out of five fingers four will point towards you for any mistake. Focus your lenses on your strength, not on your helplessness: The power of change is within you. It is the most incredible power of an individual that is residing inside you. If you can able to dig up your inner soul and manage to find your strength and adopt change. No, one can able to disturb your mind.
Conclusion
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from life’s inevitable pains, disappointments, failure. It works as a shock absorber of life. To build a better life, you have to build a strong resilience.
